CLAREMORE, Okla. (AP) – The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation says a gunman who shot and killed himself at Rogers State University in Claremore was a former Tulsa police officer.
The OSBI identified the man as 38-year-old Thomas Fees.
Investigators say Fees fired two or three shots about 6:20 p.m. Friday at a woman he knew who was inside the Fine Arts Annex on campus, then shot himself. Police say the woman was not injured. No classes were underway at the time.
Rogers State officials say the woman is an RSU student, but that Fees was not affiliated with RSU.
Fees resigned from the Tulsa Police Department in 2010 shortly after allegedly pointing a gun at a bar employee while intoxicated. He later pleaded guilty to the charge and was given a suspended sentence.
