West class makes sock dolls

Ponca City Now - December 5, 2014 5:07 pm

The students in Mandy Seward’s class at West Middle School recently made sock dolls to be given to families who stay at Ronald McDonald House ® in Oklahoma City.

"Our class was studying different types of heroes, and we talked about local heroes like firemen, policemen and soldiers and about how we could be a hero to someone else. We decided to make sock dolls for the families staying at the Ronald McDonald House," Seward said . "We also participated in Operation Pioneer Spirit this year by helping pack care packages. I am very proud of our students. They are awesome!”

The class received a letter from Susan Adams, President and CEO of Ronald McDonald House Charities ® of Oklahoma City.

“We were so pleasantly surprised to receive the adorable sock dolls made by your class," the letter said . "The families who stay at Ronald McDonald House have had to travel far to find the best doctors for their child. They are often far away from home and are concerned with not only getting their sick child back to good health, but also dealing with medical bills and other everyday expenses. Your handmade gifts will certainly brighten a family’s day. Your generosity is greatly appreciated and offers strength where it is needed most.”
