Blackwell, Newkirk elections Feb. 10

NEWKIRK — Blackwell and Newkirk will have school board elections on Feb. 10.

In Blackwell, Office No. 5 incumbent Mike Jeffers will face challenger Phil Green for a five-year term on the School Board.

In Newkirk, Kaye McCardy challenges incumbent Susan Rhea for Office No. 5 for a five-year term.

Two positions on the Ponca City School Board drew only the incumbents. Don Nuzum returns to Office No. 5 and Marvin Clark will continue in Office No. 2. Clark previously had served on the school board and was appointed to fill the remaining term in Office No. 2 after the death of Ron Hartman.

Gay Nelle Norris was the single filing for the Pioneer Technology Center boardand will retain her position.

Two Ponca City Board of Commissioner seats were filled with single candidates. Nancy Rathbun will serve in seat 2, replacing Commissioner Steve Hermann, and Ryan Austin takes seat 4, replacing Commissioner R. Mark Macy.
