Police Issue Warrant for Suspect Accused of Embezzlement at Evans and Associates

NEWKIRK, Kay County-
Shelby Dale Krout of Newalla is charged with felony counts of embezzlement and a misdemeanor count of false declaration of ownership in pawn.
Ponca City police report that on May 24, officers began investigating a report of embezzlement at Evans and Associates.
Det. Sgt. Brian Dye reports in the affidavit that a concrete saw was reported stolen and believed pawned at I-Deal Pawn by Krout. Evans and Associates had reportedly purchased eight concrete saws from Brandt’s with two remaining in inventory, one is unaccounted for.
Krout is accused of pawning five of the eight saws, pawning one saw two times for a total of six pawn transactions, according to Sgt. Dye. The total value of the saws is estimated at $5,472.96. Krout reportedly received a total of $1,700 for the pawns.
Evans and Associates Vice President Rick Allensworth, reportedly told police that he was driving by a pawn shop when he saw an Echo concrete saw sitting outside. Allensworth told police he went inside the pawnshop and was told Krout pawned the item. He was able to verify that the saw belonged to Evans and Associates.
Allensworth reportedly told police that Krout was employed at the business from April 16, 2019, until March 2, 2021.
Mary Robison, the owner of Sharp’s Pawn Shop, reportedly told police Krout pawned a saw on Jan. 19.
John Ward, owner of I-Deal Pawn Shop reportedly told police that Krout has pawned five saws since November of 2019 and that the total amount given for the saws is $1,400. Ward reportedly told police that four of the saws were sold and that the other one was for sale when he learned it was stolen.
On June 7, Dye reportedly spoke to Krout on the phone.
Krout reportedly told Dye that all of the saws he took went to the pawnshop. He reportedly admitted to taking three saws and reportedly admitted to pawning some of the saws more than once. He reportedly stated that he pawned the saws so that he could obtain drugs.
Bond in the case is endorsed at $5,000
Other cases pending against Krout include:
Krout was charged on March 2, 2021, with two felony counts of assault and battery on a police officer and two misdemeanor charges. He was arrested and released on a $75,000 bond.
Krout was charged with a felony count of injuring or burning a public building on May 25, 2021. He was arrested and released on $2,500 bond. Court dates are scheduled.
A warrant is issued for Shelby Dale Krout, 27, Newalla, by the Kay County District Court.
