Residents of the Ponca City School District Can Vote Today in School Bond Election

Beverly Cantrell - October 12, 2021 6:47 am

Oct. 12 is Election Day-

Ponca City residents can vote today on a proposed $49.7 million bond project. This seven-year bond package also includes an additional $10 million of CARES funds that will allow for improvements to the district that aid in the mitigation and spread of COVID-19.
A total of 16 bond projects, along with an additional 15 CARES projects, are included in the proposed bond package.
If the proposals pass, it will not raise taxes for Ponca City residents.

“This proposal checks many of the boxes that will move our district forward,” said Adam Leaming, Executive Director of Operations Intern. “Fifty-eight percent of the total bond and CARES proposed projects are enhancements of our schools, academics, technology, and transportation that make them function, while 42 percent of the proposed projects are needed improvements for extracurriculars.”

“Currently, there are 34 CARES and Bond projects proposed to occur simultaneously across the community. They vary from improvements to restrooms enhancements, student and patron safety construction upgrades, increasing ADA accessibility across the district, and extra-curricular upgrades to handle increasing numbers of student participants.”

“Academics will see several enhancements in the way of technology upgrades, STEM upgrades at the high school, and significant work happening at Union, Lincoln, and Liberty Elementary.”
