EL RENO, Okla. (AP) – Federal prison officials say an inmate convicted on drug charges in Pennsylvania walked away from a prison camp in central Oklahoma but was recaptured.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons said Thursday that 44-year-old Michael Mendoza was discovered missing from the camp at El Reno, near Oklahoma City. It sent an advisory later Thursday saying he had been captured, but details weren’t available.

The agency said Mendoza was sentenced in western Pennsylvania for conspiracy to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine.

The El Reno camp houses around 250 minimum-security inmates.

A statement from the prisons agency did not say when Mendoza was sentenced nor the length of his prison term.
