Ponca City School Bond Election Includes Anderson Building Renovation

The Ponca City Bond Election is Tuesday, Oct. 12th. It’s a chance for Ponca City residents to vote on a proposed $49.7 million dollar bond project. Every single school site in the Ponca City Public School district will see an improvement in this seven-year bond project that will NOT be a tax increase for residents. It also includes an additional $10 million of CARES funds, which will allow improvements to the school district and aid in the mitigation and spread of COVID-19.
The Anderson at the Ponca City High School is included in the Bond Election. The building is ready to undergo a large-scale transformation. This building will be remodeled into a state-of-the-art STEM space with a focus on college and career readiness. The facility will be demoed, leaving only the exterior shell and rebuilt with a modern STEM-focused curriculum in mind. Ponca Citys first-ever Wildcat STEM academy for grades 9-12 will give students and teachers access to a facility that is innovative, creative, and energetic in both its design and function.
There will also be new HVAC systems, new flooring, new windows, the building will become ADA compatible and counselors will be moved to the lower level providing more office space. The renovation will allow for more rigorous and robust courses in robotics, 3D printing and design, computer science, engineering, digital electronics, aerospace, and other STEM-related curricula.
Another project included in the bond election at the high school is the Howell/MSB/Commons Area. This project will preserve the history, charm and beauty of the high school while making it feel clean, modern and fresh for students.
The entire high school will undergo updates to plumbing, and electrical and will become a more efficient space for Administrators, teachers and students.
