Two Taken Into Custody After Threatening Ponca City High School

Today at 1:03 pm the Ponca City Police Department and the Ponca City High School became aware of a threat against Ponca City Senior High School, made by a person who was not at the school.

The High School was locked down and Ponca City Police, the Kay County Sheriff’s Office, O.S.B.I., and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol responded, and established a perimeter, while officers quickly investigated the threat and its origin.

Captain Kevin L. Jeffries, Patrol Division with PCPD, says based on the information gathered, a juvenile male was taken into custody in Newkirk by the Kay County Sheriff’s Office at 1:47 pm.  After further investigation, another juvenile male was taken into custody at the High School to be questioned about knowledge of the threats.

During the lockdown, another juvenile male was taken into custody to be questioned about an incident unrelated to the threats.

The lockdown of Ponca City High School was released at 2:15 pm.
