Oklahoma coronavirus numbers, hospitalizations decline

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The number of new coronavirus cases, the seven-day average of new cases, and hospitalizations have all declined in Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma State Department of Health on Friday reported 1,230 new virus cases and a seven-day average of 1,760 cases daily. There were 2,361 new cases reported Thursday and a seven-day average of 2,109 new cases daily last Friday. The health department reported a three-day average of 1,172 hospitalizations and 347 people in ICU, compared to averages of 1,381 hospitalized and 386 in the ICU last Friday.

The reported number of active virus cases in Kay County has dipped from 246 last week to 168 this week. This is a sharp drop, though unfortunately not as promising as when the county stayed below 10 known cases between June 19th and July 10th. The county has seen 17 new virus deaths in the last 7 weeks after having spent several weeks prior to that with no new deaths. The newly reported decreasing numbers could be a sign of hope on the horizon if conditions can continue progressing in this direction.
