OKCPS Begins New Quarantine Policy On Monday

As the Oklahoma City Public School District begins its 4th week of classes, it will follow a new quarantine policy for students and staff who have not been vaccinated against COVID-19.
On Monday, the district said students who are unvaccinated will be required to quarantine for 10 days if they are exposed to a person who tested positive.
The change comes after the district says it had 356 positive tests among students and 53 positive tests among staff last week.
The change won’t affect kids and teachers who are vaccinated and show no symptoms. They will not be required to quarantine but will be asked to get tested within 5 days of exposure.
If a vaccinated person does show symptoms, they will be required to stay home.
The district said the close contact rule excludes students within 3-6 feet of one another if they both were wearing a well-fitting mask.
While the district is requiring masks, leaders say so far only 133 of the nearly 31,000 students have opted out.
