They are suspects in the Sept. 6, 2017, death of 19-year-old Jesus Avila-Galvin Jr., whose body was found in a burning car east of Emporia.

The KBI did not say what motivated the killing or what led investigators to the suspects.

The suspects are Jordy Cornejo-Campoverde, 21; Armando Nunez, 20; Alan Alanis, 19; and Jovan Pecina, 22, all of Emporia; and Andrew John “AJ” Granado, 21, of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

All but Granado are being held in the Lyon County Jail pending formal charges. Granado was taken to the David L. Moss Criminal Justice Center in Tulsa County, Oklahoma, where he will await extradition, the KBI said.
