Back-to-School Assemblies Planned

The 2021-2022 school year is just around the corner for Ponca City Public Schools. Ponca City Superintendent Shelley Arrott said, “Building and promoting an unwavering positive culture is paramount to recovery and growth. We had made some headway on developing our culture but it was pushed to the back burner as we were in survival mode with the global pandemic. COVID-19 is not going to define the Ponca City Wildcats; it is going to help us become stronger!”

One way to do this is the school district is returning to Back-to-School assemblies during the pre-school meeting dates.

The all-certified assembly will be Friday, Aug. 13 at 8 a.m. in the Concert Hall, and the all-support assembly will be Monday, Aug. 16 at 8 a.m. in the Concert Hall.

“In addition to the details of our new cultural goals, we are celebrating and recognizing service achievements and we are introducing new teachers from last year AND this year since we did not have an assembly last year,” said Arrott.

Both assemblies will offer some fabulous entertainment from the best students on the planet … the Ponca City Wildcats!

Superintendent Shelley Arrott is thrilled that assemblies will be held again. “After an agonizing 16 months of fighting through a global pandemic and implementing protocols to ensure safety for all, it will be very therapeutic to meet as an entire group again and resume our staff back-to-school assemblies. We are very hopeful to continue on this trajectory of a recovery and growth for students, parents and staff.”

“Our cultural goals for this school year have already been revealed to staff in their welcome back letter that was sent on July 15,” said Arrott. “These cultural goals are: a focus on rebuilding positive relationships, school spirit and school and community pride. We will roll out a new “twist” on what it means to be a Ponca City Wildcat, and we are looking forward to revealing information to the public to help us unite with these goals.” #WildcatWay #itsgreattobeaponcacitywildcat

The first day of school is Wednesday, Aug. 18.
