May 9, 1923 – July 21, 2021

Clella Mae Leen of Blackwell, OK passed away on July 21, 2021. She was 98. Clella was born on May 9, 1923 to Stanton and Ethel Mercer in Nardin, OK.

Viewing will be Saturday, July 24, 2021 at the Trout Funeral Home of Blackwell, OK from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM. A Graveside Ceremony will be Monday, July 26, 2021, at 10:00 AM, at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Nardin, OK. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home of Blackwell, 301 W. Blackwell Ave, Blackwell, OK 74631.

She married Frank Leen on January 13, 1941 and they celebrated 53 years of marriage before Frank passed away on September 5, 1994.She graduated from Blackwell High School in 1941. Her husband, Frank, was transferred to Cincinnati, OH and later to Louisville, KY.

Clella was employed by Hermitage Farm as head bookkeeper for 26 years. Upon retiring they lived in Cape Coral, FL, until returning to Blackwell, OK in 1991. Clella worked at Top of Oklahoma Historical Society Museum in Blackwell, as director for 14 years. Clella belonged to the First Christian Church and was very active in church.

Clella is survived by her three daughters, Jacqueline Combs, Patricia Carter and husband, Bruce, Deborah Knowles and husband, Mark; five grandchildren, Jim Smith, Tiffany Barnett, Justin Knowles, Josie Knowles, Josh Combs; 12 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and one sister, Velma Barker.

Clella was preceded in death by husband, Frank Leen; four sisters, Creta Crawford, Almeta Morris, Rotha Howard, Myrna Hardeman and two brothers, Stanton Mercer and Douglas Mercer.
