Troy Cochran leads NOC Criminal Justice Program

One of the degree programs available at Northern Oklahoma College is Criminal Justice.

Classes are offered at NOC Tonkawa, NOC Enid, and the University Center in Ponca City on either ITV, Face to Face instruction or completely Online.

The program consists of academic courses in Introduction to Criminal Justice, Criminal Law, Corrections, Investigations, and Sociology.  Elective courses offered include Juvenile Delinquency, Criminal Evidence, Psychology, and Introduction to Addictive Behaviors.

Troy Cochran leads the Criminal Justice Program with many students receiving internships through various agencies across Oklahoma.

“We also have an award-winning criminal justice society club through the American Criminal Justice Association,” said instructor Troy Cochran.  “We go on field trips to various criminal justice locations as well as regional competitions in crime scene investigation, knowledge exams, physical agility and firearm shooting.”

Cochran is the Director of Criminal Justice at Northern Oklahoma College.  His primary areas of interest are in criminological theories, biological and sociological factors in serial offending and crime prevention.

He has over 10 years of law enforcement experience with the most recent being a Detective of Investigations with the Arkansas City Police Department in Kansas.  He has experience in patrol duties, homicides, sex crimes, financial crimes and many others.

He is an active member on the International Council on Alcohol, Drugs and Traffic Safety and a member of the International Association for Identification Kansas Division.  He has been awarded the police chief’s award and officer of the year twice.  Academically, he is a member of the Golden Key International Honor Society and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.

Cochran holds a B.S. Degree in Criminal Justice from Central Christian College of Kansas and a Master’s of Science Degree in Criminal Justice with a concentration on Behavioral Analysis from the University of Cincinnati and working toward his PhD in Criminal Justice and Online Learning Management from Walden University.
