Princeton Avenue Project Announced

Mike Seals - June 9, 2021 11:14 pm

The City of Ponca City has contracted with Evans & Associates Construction Company to mill and overlay a section of Princeton Avenue from 14th Street to approximately 700 feet west. Work on this project is scheduled to begin Friday, June 11 at 8:00 p.m.

The project is being started after normal working hours to reduce the impact to businesses on the south side of Princeton, which have no secondary access for their customers.

A total of three inches of asphalt will be removed and replaced under this contract in two phases of construction. The full three inches will be removed and a 1 1/4” leveling course of asphalt will be laid back during the first night’s work. The remaining 1 3/4” surface layer of asphalt will be laid the following week.

Princeton will be open to traffic on Saturday morning after the first phase of work. The second phase will be done with the least possible disruption to businesses, but short-term drive closures will be necessary while paving operations pass the drives. Through traffic will be discouraged during the second phase to protect workers and to expedite the placement of the final lift of asphalt.

Questions may be directed to Mike Lane, Traffic Engineering Manager, at (580) 767-0327.
