AG drops bribery case against Governor’s secretary

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma’s departing Attorney General has dropped a bribery case against the Governor’s cabinet secretary. Attorney General Mike Hunter dropped the case on Friday against David Ostrowe, Gov. Kevin Stitt’s digital transformation and administration secretary.

A multicounty grand jury had indicted Ostrowe in December on a felony attempted bribery count. He was accused of pressuring two Oklahoma Tax Commission members to drop penalties and late fees owed by an ex-state lawmaker’s business. Ostrowe denied any wrongdoing.

Hunter, whose last day in office is Tuesday, said his office faced a potential conflict of interest in the prosecution.
