Bashore Bills Signed by Governor

OKLAHOMA CITY – Freshman Rep. Steve Bashore, R-Miami had his first two bills signed into law by the governor this week.

House Bill 2277 clarifies in statute that mixed beverage licensees permitted to offer drink specials are not required to offer them at all venues operating under the same license.

“This allows businesses, such as restaurants or golf courses, that have multiple venues to sell products at different prices at each location,” Bashore said. “This frees these business owners from an unnecessary regulation and allows them make decisions based on what works best for each venue.”

HB 2277 was authored by Sen. James Leewright, R-Bristow.

“I’m proud of the strides our state has made on behalf of business owners and consumers in modernizing our state laws on alcohol sales – HB 2277 is part of that process,” Leewright said.  “I appreciated the opportunity to work with Representative Bashore on this legislation.”

House Bill 2327 creates a procedure to provide notice and an opportunity to review to an individual or facility employed by or under contract with an Office of Juvenile Affairs affiliated facility as it relates to the Restricted Registry.

Bashore said the measure was a request from the Tulsa County Juvenile Board.

“This simply allows these contractors to appeal findings of alleged violations prior to being placed upon the Restricted Registry list,” Bashore said. “Everyone should have the right to appeal before being limited in their practice.”

HB 2327 was authored by Sen. Brenda Stanley, R-Midwest City.

“This legislation simply provides for due process and passed unanimously in both chambers,” Stanley said. “I appreciated the opportunity to work with Representative Bashore on this measure, and I thank our fellow members and Governor Stitt for their support.”
