Area searched for remains in 2002 cold case

BLANCHARD, Okla. (AP) – Oklahoma investigators will search an area of McClain County for the next several days in hopes of discovering more remains of a 37-year-old bounty hunter who disappeared in 2002.

Investigators with several agencies searched Wednesday near Blanchard for the remains of Troy Neidhart. After Neidhart was reported missing, detectives discovered that he may have been murdered.

Some remains found in McClain County in 2004 were identified in 2006 by the state Medical Examiner’s Office as being Neidhart, but the case languished for the next several years.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation has assigned a newly-hired agent to the case, and authorities say they hope to "jump-start" the investigation by trying to gather more skeletal remains that may be in the area.
