Mike Seals - April 14, 2021 11:59 pm

The Heather Cannon Wildcat of the Week #15 for the 2020-2021 School Year was presented this week to Po-Hi Senior, Alexis Irons.

Superintendent Shelley Arrott said, “Alexis Irons is a very dedicated and hardworking student, friend, citizen, employee and she represents the Wildcat Way in everything she attempts. Alexis is very disciplined while focusing on achieving her goals, whether these goals relate to academic, service, or career.”

“She sets goals for herself and does not allow any obstacle that may come along stand in her way of achieving these goals. Alexis is very service oriented and her dream and goal is to become a pediatrician so she can provide medical care for children. To become a pediatrician, it takes many focused years of education, including years of college and medical school.”

“Having one of the top 20 GPAs in her graduating class and being a member of the National Honor Society at Po-Hi, proves she is dedicated to academics and learning. After graduation, Alexis plans on continuing her path toward becoming a pediatrician at the University of Oklahoma. Not only is Alexis a dedicated and exemplary student, she is an active member of and serves as president of the Po-Hi Key Club, an international organization for high school students to encourage leadership while serving others.”

“With her focus on her academics and community service to help make Ponca City and our world a better place, she also works a part-time job at Marshall’s Department Store. In the little spare time she has, she loves spending time with friends and family. Even though she pushes herself to continually grow and improve, she does so with a positive attitude, bright smile, and warm heart!”

“Alexis, I am so proud of your dedication and desire to make Po-Hi and our community a better place. Your family, teachers, and friends feel that same sense of pride for you. You are very loved, admired, and are a positive role model to many.”

“As we spoke today, it warmed my heart to know that you are considering returning back to Ponca City once you become a pediatrician to make a difference for your community. On behalf of the entire community of Ponca City, I want you to know we are ALL proud of you. You are living proof of what the characteristics of the Wildcat Way represent, and the fact you want to return to serve your community and future Wildcats, demonstrates the true essence of…Once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat!”

The Wildcat of the Week receives a Wildcat of the Week T-shirt, a Wildcat window sticker, and a coupon for a delicious burger basket from Ground Round. The award is sponsored by TEAM Radio, Heather Cannon Honda, Tyndall Family Dentistry, Ground Round, and Legacy Signs.

The award is open to ANY Ponca City High School student. TEAM Radio makes the final selections and coordinates with school officials for presentations. Please use this link to nominate a high school student for Wildcat of the Week: https://www.poncacitynow.com//32875-2/
