Capitol Update from Rep. Luttrell

Rep. Ken Luttrell represents District 37 in the Oklahoma House of Representatives, which includes parts of Kay and Osage counties.

We had a week full of committee meetings and are getting set up for the home stretch here in the House. We have continued to hear Senate bills and the Senate has been hearing our bills from the House as well.  Out of 416 House bills sent over, the Senate has moved 325 of them on.

I’ve had great meetings with our senator, Senator Bill Coleman, R-Ponca City, to discuss legislation that benefits the people of our district and the state. There are a number of great bills moving forward that will help Oklahomans. Additionally, the House and Senate Veterans Caucus met to discuss legislation that can help those who have bravely served our country. I’m proud to live in a state that loves and honors our veterans, and I believe we need to do whatever we can to show them how much we appreciate their hard work and sacrifice.

In addition to legislative work, Governor Kevin Stitt also announced the upcoming launch of the Oklahoma Innovation Expansion Program (OIEP), which will make $10 million in funding available to qualifying manufacturers across the state.

Based on the success of the Oklahoma Bounce Back Assistance Program in 2020, OIEP was developed to support high-impact new capital investment across a broad range of industries to help diversify the state’s economy, lead to new product development or increase capacity at Oklahoma’s existing companies. In addition to encouraging new capital investment, these awards will support existing jobs and the creation of new jobs. The program will be administered by the Oklahoma Department of Commerce (Commerce) and the Oklahoma Development Finance Authority (ODFA).
