The Heather Cannon Wildcat of the Week #11 for the 2020-2021 School Year was presented this week to PO-HI Senior, Emma Valgora.

Superintendent Shelley Arrott said, “Emma is an amazing person and student! Emma is that student who demonstrates ALL the characteristics of the Wildcat Way, but the one that is synonymous to Emma is Leadership.”

“Emma holds many leadership positions at the high school, and she is highly involved as a leader with Evans Children’s Academy of Performing Arts and her church. At PO-HI she serves as the Student Council Secretary, Choral President, and Foreign Language Club Vice President.”

“With Evans Academy of Performing Arts, she often assumes one of the lead roles in productions. In addition, she maintains two jobs; Emma is a nanny and takes on duties at her church when a singer is needed.  Emma inserts herself into all of these activities and duties and sets goals for herself to perform each task to the best of her ability.”

“While participating in all of these activities, she maintains a high GPA in all of her classes, including AP classes. In fact, Emma’s GPA is among the top at Ponca City High School. On top and being highly involved in productions and competitions, many may have heard Emma sing the National Anthem, either as a soloist or as part of an ensemble at PCPS events.”

“Emma is a student everyone knows will put forth her best effort, is highly dependable, and is willing to take on any task. She is very well-spoken, is personable, and treats everyone with respect and dignity. In addition she is genuinely a very sweet and caring person and a true friend to everyone. Upon graduation, Emma plans to seek a degree in Early Childhood Education.”

“Emma, I am so proud of the way you represent not only the high school, but the entire Ponca City Public School District. You are that student everyone looks up to, including your peers, the PCPS staff, and your community! Little eyes watch our older students and I am so thankful you are such a wonderful role model, for not only your classmates, but for our younger students as well.”

“You could truly be the district’s student spokesperson, and I know someday we will see your name in lights and we will all beam with pride! Many universities will love to have you as a student, and many educational opportunities will be afforded to you. My heart swells knowing you want to be an Early Childhood teacher.”

“I know great things are in your future, but when you graduate, I will highly recruit you to become a member of Team PCPS because you will positively impact many children. With your talent, you could teach during the school year and perform in the summer and on weekends! Whatever the future brings, I know you will be highly successful and I am so proud you are a Ponca City Wildcat!”

The Wildcat of the Week receives a Wildcat of the Week T-shirt, a Wildcat window sticker, and a coupon for a delicious burger basket from Ground Round. The award is sponsored by TEAM Radio, Heather Cannon Honda, Tyndall Family Dentistry, Ground Round, and Legacy Signs.
