Jimmie Leon Tosh, 66, of Ponca City, left this life on March 5, 2021. A Funeral Ceremony will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, March 11, 2021, at Trout Funeral Home Chapel, with Stuart Powell officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Viewing will be from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, March 10, 2021, with the family present from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Face masks are required. Jimmie was born on December 30, 1954, in Coffeyville, KS, to John L. and Ida Louise (Sprague) Tosh. Jim and Julie (Lawson) were married December 3, 1977 in Coffeyville, KS. Jim worked for the American Legion Children’s Home and later renamed Marland Children’s Home for 36 years before going to work at Kaw Nation where he was employed until shortly before his death. He loved watching Doug play baseball, Amanda playing soccer, Kaidence playing basketball and soccer and Karter playing soccer and baseball. Jim also played baseball and coached teams in Coffeyville and coached several of Doug’s teams. He and Julie traveled many miles and went through numerous states over the years watching Doug and Amanda’s teams play rarely missing any games.

In Coffeyville, Jim worked for Hargrove Auto Supply, Pepsi Cola and Jensen Mfg. before moving to Ponca City in 1983, he went to work for the American Legion Children’s Home. Doug was born in 1984 and Amanda was born in 1989.

Jim collected shot glasses, especially those from all of the sports travel destinations and Route 66 memorabilia. He was an avid poker player and loved his Kansas Jayhawks, Dallas Cowboys and New York Yankees.
Jim loved the bagpipes and his brother in law, Brett Radcliff will play Amazing Grace on the bagpipes at the service.

He is survived by: his wife, Julie, of the home; son, Douglas Tosh and his wife, Kristina, of Ponca City; daughter, Amanda James and her husband, Robert, of Ponca City; grandchildren, Karter Tosh, Kaidence Hartl, Jensen James and baby James; sisters Martha McCurley and Dave of Coffeyville, Sharon Felton and Tim of South Coffeyville, OK, brothers, Kenneth of Coffeyville, Clarence and Judy of Coffeyville, Steve and Nisha of Arkansas, mother in law and father in law, Jim and Beverly Lawson of Coffeyville, brother in law Tony Lawson and Debby of Coffeyville, sister-in-law, Kelly Radcliff and Brett of Independence, Ks .

Preceded in death by mother Louise, father, John, brothers, Charles, John, and Joe.

Casketbearers will be Douglas Tosh, Robert James, Matt Alban, John Alban, Chuck Creppel and Pat Walker. Honorary casketbearers are Don Waters, Sam Smith, Don Young, Jay Bohon, Danny Creed, Robert Anderson, Robert Dick, Louie Womack, Steve Munns, and the late Hurley Bohon.

Donations can be made to Ponca City Soccer or to Karter Tosh’s baseball team, the Iron Pigs, for fees and uniforms, in care of Ponca City Junior Baseball.
