Newkirk Woman Killed in I-35 Accident

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol report, a fatality injury collision occurred yesterday (Monday) at approximately 4:13 a.m. on Interstate 35 near the 166-mile marker northbound, approximately 7 miles north of Guthrie in Payne County.

The six-car accident resulted in the death of Kelly D. Hillhouse, age 51, of Newkirk. She reportedly succumbed to massive injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of another vehicle, Vincent G. Dufek, age 21 of Austin, Texas, was transported by Guthrie EMS to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City where he was admitted in critical condition for head, arm, leg, trunk external, and trunk internal injuries.

The driver of a 2016 Peterbilt driven by Stephen S. Headley, age 67 of Lebanon, Missouri, was transported by LifeNet to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City where he was admitted in critical condition for head and trunk internal injuries.

The drivers of three other vehicles were not injured.

What happened and the cause of the collision remains under investigation. However, the weather at the time of the accident was freezing rain and the roadway was slick and covered with ice.

The accident was investigated by Trooper Shayne Ballard #249 of the Traffic Homicide Unit.  Assisted by Trooper Derek Fry #298 of Troop K, LT Matthew Ledbetter #136, Trooper Mathew Conway #337, Trooper Chad Pape #488, Trooper Matt Stacy #889 all of the Traffic Homicide Unit, Trooper Malcolm Denning #662, and Trooper Caleb Swickey #196 of the Size and Weights Division.
