Doris Lee Harris
November 21, 1944 – December 23, 2020
Doris Lee Harris, 76, entered Heaven’s gate on December 23, 2020, following complications related to COVID-19. Her beloved husband was able to be by her side holding her hand in the hospital. A Graveside Ceremony will be held Friday, February 12, 2021 at Odd Fellow’s Cemetery, Ponca City. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory, 505 W. Grand Ave. Ponca City, OK 74601.
Dee was born on November 21, 1944, in Blackwell, Oklahoma. She was the youngest of four sisters. She met and married the love of her life, Alvin Henry Harris Jr. in Tucson, Az. in 1964. The two lived in Arizona over the past 30 years, but she always had strong connections to her Oklahoma roots. She was a loving and supportive mother to her children Sherry and Kevin, and a doting grandmother to Abby, Travis, and Ben.
She has five great-grandchildren Kyler, Alizabell, Kayden, Whyatt, and Zoe. Dee was a ray of sunshine as a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will always be remembered for her kind heart, warm smile, generosity, love for helping others, and compassion for animals. She enjoyed family time painting and baking with the kids, playing in the pool, boating, fishing, and letting her grandchildren drive her around in the golf cart on the property. She saw the best in people and always offered support and hope for them to become the best they could be.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in their name to Donation: Humane Society of Southern Arizona. Al and Dee both shared a tremendous love for animals and showed their compassion for them whenever they could. They would be grateful to know donations have been given to help the many animals in need. Remember this, those we love can never be more than a thought away…. for as long as there is a memory and love, they live in our hearts to stay.
