Stitt appoints ex-football player to Board of Education

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt is appointing an ex-University of Oklahoma football player and businessman from Yukon to the State Board of Education. Stitt announced on Friday that he was naming former OU tight end Trent Smith to the post.

Last month Stitt rescinded his appointment of an Enid woman who led an anti-mask crusade in Oklahoma City. Melissa Crabtree had faced fierce criticism from Democrats in the Legislature and some public education groups for social media posts in which she shared misinformation about the coronavirus and vaccines.
