County fair offers new features

The Blackwell High School Band will kick-off the Kay County fair tonight at 6. And tonight is only the beginning of the six day fair. Fair Director, Jim Menzer said they will welcome some new features, while also bringing back some fair traditions.

" I think we got one new ride for sure, and then we got a new, it’s a big pool and you get in the balls and walk on the water and kind of bumper ball each other," Menzer said. "Then they got a bungee cord set up on the south end, as well. We got a lot of new stuff this year. We got four or five new food vendors."

Menzer said one of the new food vendors is an Asian noodle and stir fry place. Mixed in with the new is the old crowd favorites.

"We’ll have Cactus Jack back, this is his second year from Nebraska," Menzer said. "He’s coming in off winning the most favorite food vendor at the Nebraska State Fair last week. We was real popular last year and he’ll be back."

Cactus Jack serves all kinds of barbecue.

The stunt bicycle team and petting zoo will also be back this year.
