OKLAHOMA CITY – Senate Democratic Leader Kay Floyd, D-Oklahoma City, released the following statement on behalf of the Senate Democratic Caucus:

“We are pleased to welcome Senator Jo Anna Dossett, D-Tulsa, as the newest member of the Senate Democratic Caucus. Senator Dossett is the first Democrat to represent Senate District 35 in over 50 years. Her expertise as a longtime public school educator will be tremendously valuable in the Oklahoma Senate and will help her to best serve the communities in her district.

“We also congratulate Senator Kevin Matthews, D-Tulsa, who was sworn in for a second term. Senator Matthews serves as the Senate Democratic Caucus Chair. His experience as a retired fire fighter makes him an effective advocate on public safety issues in the Oklahoma Senate and a strong voice for his constituents.

“As we approach the beginning of the next legislative session, Oklahoma Senate Democrats are ready to work tirelessly on behalf of the people of Oklahoma.”
