Donna Jean Tebow
February 10, 1930 – October 3, 2020
Donna Jean (Kirby) Tebow was called home on October 3, 2020. She lived a life of 90 years with love and kindness each and every day. She loved her family beyond measure.
Her life began on February 10, 1930 born to Ray and Dorothy (Metcalf) Kirby. Donna Jean was the oldest of five siblings. She began caring for others at a very early age.
Donna Jean attended Lamont High School and after graduating, she went to work for State Exchange Bank of Lamont. She was smitten with the handsome neighbor boy, Dwaine who asked for her hand in marriage. They were united in Holy Matrimony on April 10, 1949. Together they built a beautiful life and family. Donna Jean took so much pride in her hardworking husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family was everything to her.
Donna Jean went back to school in 1969 after all four of her children were of school age. She graduated from Beetch’s Beauty School in Enid. She had a beauty shop in her home for many years.
Donna Jean was a 50 + year member of the Grant County Home Extension Organization. During this time she served as many different officers in Willing Workers and for the County Extension Organization. Donna Jean was chosen as Lamont’s Lady of the year. Donna Jean could often be found in the kitchen. She was a phenomenal cook and earned the Grant County grand champion cherry pie title several years running. In addition, she was an amazing seamstress. As a young girl she even made her youngest sisters Easter dress, her daughters and granddaughters prom dresses, her daughter’s wedding gowns, tailored suits and coats as well. The Grant County fair was a yearly highlight for Donna Jean.
The Lamont Christian church was near and dear to Donna Jean. She was a true servant always preparing Memorial Day dinners, Funeral Dinners, CWF officer, teaching Sunday School and much more.
Donna Jean was a true partner to Dwaine during harvest time. She was either feeding the hired hands, taking meals to the field, running after repair parts and even driving the wheat truck. She loved this time of year when they were able to see the fruits of their labor.
Donna Jean was an amazing hostess! She loved having people in her home. There would always be a delicious homemade meal, a cold glass of tea and dessert, of course. She hosted many years of New Years Eve card parties.
Donna Jean is survived by her four children, Jean Kay Hembree and husband Rex, Sue Sharp and her husband Bob, Craig Tebow and wife Cheryl, and Jeff Tebow and wife Valerie.
