Nearly 1,100 more reported coronavirus cases in Oklahoma

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The Oklahoma State Health Department reports nearly 1,100 new confirmed cases of the coronavirus that causes COVID-19 and 11 new deaths from the illness. The new cases the department reported on Saturday raised the total for the six-month outbreak to 57,353 cases, while the deaths raised Oklahoma’s outbreak toll to 797.

The true number of cases in Oklahoma is likely higher because many people have not been tested, and studies suggest people can be infected and spread the virus while not feeling sick.

The department said active coronavirus cases rose by 3.1% from Friday to 7,949 active cases.
