Helen Louise Reese of Blackwell, Oklahoma passed away on August 23, 2020 in Blackwell, Oklahoma at the age of 91 years.
Helen Louise was born on April 13, 1929 in Blackwell, Oklahoma the daughter of Roy Wassom and Lennis (Welch) Wassom. She attended Blackwell Public Schools, graduating in 1947.
She eloped with the love of her life, Robert L. Reese and the two were married on September 2, 1948 in Lucien, Oklahoma. In September, the couple would have celebrated 72 years of marriage.
Helen was a lifetime member of the Nardin United Methodist Church and served on the United Methodist Women’s Committee. She made at least a thousand apricot pies and also made German Chocolate cakes for the Bazaar. During her later years she attended Immanuel Baptist Church, and was a member of the HOPE Sunday School Class.
She will be remembered as a woman who loved her Lord and her family. She knew Jesus and we have blessed assurance that she is in His presence.
Helen was a beautiful seamstress, completing many wedding dresses and bridesmaid dresses, among many other projects. She was also a wonderful cook, and most likely the greatest harvest cook in the world.
Helen rocked and held eight grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Her family was her lifelong love mission. The grandchildren loved for her to make them sweet rice and she was never too tired to do that for them.
Helen is survived by her husband, Bob Reese of Blackwell; children, Gale Clark (Roger) of Nardin, Oklahoma, Bonnie Taylor (Jim) of Elk City, Oklahoma, and Alan Reese (Tammy) of Nardin, Oklahoma; sister, Carol Sneath of Ponca City, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Angela Davis (Chris), Lance Clark (Stacy), Valerie Montgomery (Trevor), Ty Taylor (Staci), Luke Taylor (Jennifer), Keena Thompson (Tyler); great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Malerie, Megan, Matthew, Jacob, Hannah, Kyndal, Ryan, Laikyn, Kinidi, Kamryn, Konlee, Kylar, Kori, Kross, Kreed, Harlee, Elijah, Sonora, Kobe, Brady, Brinlee, Brett, Justyce, JB, and Jalen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Lennis Wassom; and a sister, Doris Sneath.
A private family service will be held, with burial at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Nardin, Oklahoma.
Casket Bearers will be Chris Davis, Lance Clark, Trevor Montgomery, Ty Taylor, Luke Taylor, Tyler Thompson, Joe Booker, and Jared Reese.
