TECUMSEH, Okla. (AP) – Heavy rainfall is causing flooding in parts of Oklahoma.
The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the Little River near Tecumseh. The river was at 15.4 feet on Thursday morning – more than 4 feet above flood stage. Forecasters say the river is expected to crest at near 16 feet before dropping below flood stage Thursday afternoon.
The weather service says the flooding will likely damage crops and pastures and affect rural roads along the river.
Elsewhere, flood advisories are in effect for Atoka, Coal, Cotton, Hughes, Pontotoc, Pottawatomie, Seminole and Tillman counties. A flash flood watch is in effect for much of the state as well, and forecasters say some areas could see 2 to 5 inches of rain through Friday.
