Sen. Roland Pederson to host two additional blood drives for the
Oklahoma Blood Institute

OKLAHOMA CITY – To combat the shortage of blood caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, State Sen. Roland Pederson, R-Burlington, has partnered with the Oklahoma Blood Institute (OBI) to host two additional mobile blood drives across northwestern Oklahoma.

Pederson previously hosted two successful drives in April, with blood donations doubling the drive goals.

The next blood drive will be held on Thursday, May 7 at the City of Blackwell from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The final drive will be held on Monday, May 11 at the Medford Civic Center from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

“The need for blood is always ongoing, and there’s no substitution for this lifesaving resource,” Pederson said. “Donating blood is an easy way for Oklahomans to come together and fulfill an immediate need in our communities during the COVID-19 pandemic.”

To follow current Centers for Disease Control guidelines, each blood drive will take place at a mobile unit with scheduled appointments to reduce social contact for donors. Appointment time slots, sign-ups and donor information can be found at www.obi.org.
