Oklahoma Humanities awards $481,100 in Emergency H.O.P.E. Grants

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma Humanities (OH) is proud to report that $481,100 in immediate emergency grant funding will be distributed to cultural organizations statewide. The Oklahoma Humanities Organizations Pandemic Emergency Grants or H.O.P.E. Grants will be used for emergency general operating support and staff retention in the humanities and cultural sectors.

The City of Ponca City has been awarded $15,000 in funding for the Ponca City Library, the Marland Grand House, and the Marland Mansion.

This emergency funding will support at-risk humanities positions and projects at museums, libraries and archives, historic sites, colleges and universities, and other cultural nonprofits that have been financially impacted by COVID-19.

Funding for these grants has been provided by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) as part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act economic stabilization plan. Oklahoma Humanities is responsible for the redistribution of this federal funding allocated to the state of Oklahoma via the NEH Federal and State Partnership Division.

Oklahoma Humanities (OH) is proud to report that zero percent of CARES funding was retained or used for internal administrative costs. These funds will be dispersed in the form of grants to institutions across the state, whose needs are tremendous and whose survival is critical to the economic and cultural lives of their communities.
