Laile Don Stagner

July 25, 1953 – April 25, 2020

Laile Don Stagner, beloved husband, dad, papa and friend left this world unexpectedly and way too soon on Saturday, April 25, 2020 on his annual fishing trip in Tahlequah, Oklahoma with his buddies and partners in crime. He was 66 years old.

Laile was one of four boys raised by their parents, Vernon and Cleo Stagner. He attended Ponca City High School graduating in 1971. He always supported music, loved playing bass guitar and touring in many bands including The Loose Goose Band and Boys From Oklahoma. He was a staple at Walnut Valley Music Festival at the Winfield Blue Grass Festival for 39 years and made many, many life long friends there. Laile was a talented singer and songwriter as well.

Laile married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Julie on May 10, 1994. They shared 25 amazing years together full of many adventures and memories, traveling to many live concerts, running the family business Webb’s World of Fun. Between Winfield, Tahlequah, and Webb’s World of Fun, they have more extended family than we could possibly name.

He adored his daughter Sarah and her kids, Mason and Raylee, who he loved more than he ever thought possible. Besides family, friends, and music, Laile’s love was fishing. Any kind of fishing. All the time. Laile was fishing with the guys when he decided to check out to the big lake in the sky.

He was preceded in death by both of his parents of Ponca City and his brother, Lonny Stagner of Nowata, Oklahoma.
He is survived by his wife, Julie Stagner of Ponca City, his daughter, Sarah Rice and husband, Michael Rice of Tulsa, OK, step-daughter, Sally Gann Riche and husband, David Riche of McKinney, Texas, step-son, Cory Gann of Ponca City, his grandchildren, Mason and Raylee Thompson of Tulsa, OK and Kaleb Gann of Ponca City, brother, Jerry Stagner of Ponca City, brother, Dean Stagner of Victoria, TX, many nieces and nephews and last but not least, his constant companion, Penny Girl.

Laile will be so missed by so many people. There will be two Celebrations of Life for Laile: one at Sigh’s in Ponca City and one at Sand Stone Ranch in Nowata, OK. Dates and times will be determined later.
