Ponca City man in critical condition after motorcycle wreck

A Ponca City man is in critical condition after wrecking his motorcycle in the 8900 block of Lake Rd yesterday evening. Rodney Rutherford, 59 is at St. Johns Hospital in Tulsa with head, internal trunk injuries and leg injuries.

The police report said he was heading north on the curve of Lake Rd. five miles east of Ponca City when he departed the road to the left. He drove into a ditch and the motorcycle went airborne for about 86 feet before hitting the ground. The bike hit the ground front wheel first, causing the motorcycle to spin before coming to a rest.

The report said both the cause of the wreck and condition of the driver are still under investigation.
