Less than a week left to register for an absentee ballot

There is less than a week for registered voters in Kay county to apply for absentee ballots to be mailed to them for the statewide primary election. County Election Board secretary, Cheryl Howard said applications for absentee ballots must be in the hands of the County Election Board no later than 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18 to be processed.

Any registered voter eligible to vote in the election may vote by absentee without stating a reason. Absentee voters may apply in person at the County Election Board office or they may send their applications by mail or fax.

Voters also may apply for absentee ballots for the following reasons:

1. Registered voters who are physically incapacitated, and voters who care for physically incapacitated persons who cannot be left unattended may apply for absentee ballots only by mail or by fax.

2. Registered voters who are confined to nursing homes in the country may apply only by mail or by fax.

3. Military personnel, residents of Kay county living overseas and the spouses and dependents of each group are entitled to vote with being registered. They may apply by mail, by email or by fax.
