Bond revocation motion withdrawn for former superintendent Gary Young

NEWKIRK — Assistant District Attorney Tom Lane withdrew a motion on Thursday to revoke bond for Gary Martin Young in Kay County District Court, citing a case of mistaken identity.
Gary Martin Young appeared in court with his attorney Mack Martin before Judge Jennifer Brock.
Gary Martin Young, the former Peckham School Superintendent, faces six felony charges, including:
- Three counts of lewd or indecent acts to a child under 16;
- Two counts of cause/procure/permit injury or sex abuse to a child;
- Blackmail.
Judge Brock had set bond at $50,000 on Dec. 18, 2019, and set several conditions on Gary Young’s bond, including house arrest. He was also ordered to avoid any contact with his alleged victims.
On Jan. 14, 2020, a motion to revoke Gary Young’s bond alleged there was information that Young had violated the conditions of his bond on Dec. 22, 2019, and on Jan. 6, 2020, by going to the Blackwell Walmart store, where one of the juvenile victims works.
In Thursday’s hearing, Lane stated that the subject seen on the video surveillance from the store was his brother, David Young, on both occurrences.
Judge Brock ordered Gary Young to return for his next court date in April. He remains free on the conditions of his bond.
