Required Dicamba application training set for Feb. 27

BLACKWELL — A required Dicamba application training program is set for Feb. 27 at the Blackwell Fairgrounds Expo Center.

Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m., with the program to start at noon.

The Environmental Protection Agency announced in November that it would extend the registration of over-the-top use of Dicamba (Xtendimax, Engenia, FeXapan) in Xtend cotton and soybean (Dicamba-tolerant) for two years.

With that, there were some things that stayed the same and some things that changed. First, Xtendimax, Engenia, and FeXapan will remain Restricted Use Herbicides and will continue to follow the record-keeping requirements that were put in place last year.

Those who will be purchasing or applying these Restricted Use Herbicides this coming spring are required to complete training, even if you attended a Dicamba training last year. Changes to label instructions have been made. Only certified applicators may purchase and apply these products. Applicators operating under the supervision of a certified applicator may NOT purchase or apply these products.

Kay, Grant, and Noble County OSU Extension offices will be hosting this training at the Blackwell Expo Center.

Helena Agri-Enterprises, LLC., of Blackwell is sponsoring the lunch and program. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m.

In addition to the required Dicamba application training, there will be a presentation from OSU Weed Science Extension Specialist Dr. Misha Manuchehri.
