County Election Boards send absentee ballots to military voters ahead of deadline

OKLAHOMA CITY  – State Election Board Secretary Paul Ziriax announced Friday that all county election boards in Oklahoma have sent absentee ballots to uniformed services and overseas voters ahead of the Saturday deadline for the March 3 Presidential Preferential Primary.

“State and federal law both require that absentee ballots must be sent to military voters at least 45 days prior to a federal election,” Ziriax said. “The laws exist to ensure that voters in the uniformed services or those residing overseas have sufficient time to vote. It isn’t easy for election officials to meet that 45-day deadline, but it is very important that we do so. I am so proud of the county election boards and our State Election Board staff for working together to send absentee ballots ahead of the deadline for the Super Tuesday presidential primary election.”

Ziriax said any registered voter may request an absentee ballot by contacting their county election board or using the OK Voter Portal at https://elections.ok.gov/ovp. The deadline to request an absentee ballot for the March 3 election is Feb. 26.
