State Superintendent Ryan Walters announced Tuesday afternoon that he’s doubling down on his stance on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

He said if districts don’t comply with the assurance Title VI from the U.S Department of Education, he will withhold federal funding from the districts not complying.

Walters tells News Channel 8, he can enforce this executive order that President Donald Trump signed requiring districts to remove DEI or face federal cuts.

Walters said he’s making sure every district in Oklahoma complies, and so far, he adds, dozens of districts have not complied, yet.

According to Walters, the districts that don’t comply with the executive order will face severe financial impacts.

“The students are absolutely going to have all the options to have a great education system. The reality is it will be their public school failed them if they simply don’t comply with an executive order from the President. What the President is trying to do is protect those students, protect those families to get a great education. Schools need to be complying with this. They need to be protecting these kids against woke ideologies, giving them a great education, and empowering them through education,” Walters said.

Districts have until April 25th to comply otherwise, funding is cut.
