Haleigh George named Wildcat of the Week

Ponca City Now - December 18, 2019 3:59 pm

The Heather Cannon Wildcat of the Week is Po-Hi junior Haleigh George.

“Haleigh is a Po-Hi student who is willing to jump in and support or help anyone who may need it,” Superintendent Shelley Arrott said. “She is a natural leader who steps up to help without even thinking about it to support her family, friends, and peers. Haleigh has been a cheerleader since 8th grade, and she very patiently and diligently works with the younger cheerleaders to help them learn routines and to keep them motivated to improve. She is a true role model for them.

“Haleigh is not only great with the younger cheerleaders, but she also loves to interact with everyone to develop unity and a sense of belonging. She has taken one of our foreign exchange students under her wing to make sure her experience is positive and to support her as she becomes adjusted to life in a new country. Not only is she good with her peers, but she really interacts well with our younger students who are not in high school yet. She was great with the girls participating in Po-Hi Mini Cheer, and she volunteered at the Santa Shop at Woodlands Elementary.

“Because the younger students adore her and look up to her, I think she would make a fantastic teacher because she builds positive relationships so naturally, which is an innate characteristic great teachers possess. In addition to being great with people, she is serious about her academics, extra-curricular activities, and about being a good friend. Haleigh loves her school and her classmates and is a loyal Ponca City Wildcat!

“Haleigh, thank you for representing all Ponca City Wildcats with such pride, class, and grace. I know you will continue to support the Wildcats until you graduate, but I would love to have you return to the district as a teacher some day,”  Arrott said.

The Wildcat of the Week receives a Wildcat of the Week T-shirt, a Wildcat window sticker, and a coupon for a delicious burger basket from Ground Round.
