Roosevelt students Gage Schwartz and Kaleb Maxson recently brought some very interesting show and tell items to share with their classes.
They showed a petrified buffalo skull they recently found in the Arkansas River. They also shared facts about buffaloes such as the fact that Native Americans did not waste any part of a buffalo. They found a use for everything including using the hide for teepees. Their favorite fact was that they used buffalo dung for fire fuel.
The two boys also showed a picture of a mammoth tooth they found last month in the Arkansas River. The tooth is currently at the University of Oklahoma being put through a preservation process. The young presenters had small fragments of the tooth for their peers to examine.
