Hubbard, Lamb miss out on Doak, Biletnikoff

The Doak Walker and Fred Biletnikoff awards seemed as if they were locked up midway through the season.

Oklahoma State’s Chuba Hubbard and Oklahoma’s CeeDee Lamb both led the country in various statistical categories and began Big 12 play with hot starts.

Hubbard ripped off games of 296 yards against Kansas State, 171 yards against Baylor and 223 yards against TCU though his first 9 games.

Lamb had performances of 185 yards and 3 touchdowns against Texas Tech and 171 yards and 3 TDs against Texas in the span of three weeks.

Last night both awards were handed out and the Doak Walker went to Wisconsin’s Jonathan Taylor, who also won the award last season. Taylor became the third running back in the award’s history to win back-to-back.

The Biletnikoff winner was Ja’Marr Chase. He led the country with 124 yards per game and 18 touchdowns. His scoring mark broke the LSU season record.

As a consolation, both Hubbard and Lamb were included in the Walter Camp All-American team alongside the winners of both awards.
