Sooners beat LSU, Cowgirls drop to Texas A&M

The Big 12/SEC women’s basketball challenge kicked off this past weekend with both conferences going toe-to-toe.
The men’s challenge happens later in the season.
Oklahoma had No. 25 LSU into Norman as part of the competition and behind 20-point performances from Taylor Robertson and Ana Llanusa, the Sooners knocked the Tigers off 90-68.
Robertson scored 21 on 50 percent shooting, Llanusa had 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists.

Mandy Simpson had a double-double with 18 points and 10 boards. Her effort on the glass was part of OU out-rebounding LSU 38-30.
OU (5-4) had 17 second-chance points.
Khayla Pointer had 24 points and Ayana Mitchell had 20 to lead the Tigers (8-2). Mitchell shot 10-for-10 from the field.
Oklahoma State went to College Station to take on Texas A&M and lost 74-62.
OSU (6-3) lost despite getting 19-point double-double performances from both Vivian Gray and Natasha Mack.
Mack grabbed 16 rebounds while Gray had 10.

Bryn Gerlich was the spark off the bench for the Cowgirls. She was 4-for-6 from the field and 67 percent from 3.
The Cowgirls were plus-12 with Gerlich on the floor. She finished with 10 points.
Texas A&M (7-1) got 31 points from Chennedy Carter and 22 points from Kayla Wells. N’dea Jones scored just 2 points for the Aggies, but dominated the glass with 15 rebounds.
Up next for the Cowgirls, they got Southern coming to Gallagher-Iba Arena on Dec. 17.
The Sooners have Sam Houston State at Lloyd Noble on Dec. 15.
