The Ponca City Police Department held it’s annual awards banquet on February 28th. Sergeant Rob Hughes was awarded the Life Saving Award for his services this past fall.
As Sergeant Hughes investigated a separate incident in a Ponca City neighborhood, he heard what he believed were gunshots in the area. Sergeant Hughes walked the area to further investigate the gunshots and he located a subject who was suffering from a critical gunshot wound. The individual had life threatening injuries, was unable to move or call for help, and he was lying in a dark alley with no one around. As a result of Sergeant Hughes’ actions, the individual received immediate medical care and is recovering from his injuries. Within a matter of days, an arrest was made for this incident.
Sergeant Hughes is a valuable member of our organization and his efforts to maintain the safety and security of our community do not go unnoticed. Congratulations, Sergeant Hughes!
