Schools celebrate Native American Heritage Month

Ponca City Public Schools celebrated Native American Heritage Month all across the district. Students in the elementary schools learned to make Native American crafts, jewelry, and other items.

Union teacher Michelle Hunt said, “I had Chris LittleCook, Title VI Director for PCPS, and another member of the Ponca Tribe come to speak to both kindergarten and first grade classes. In the photo, he is using Jagger Leavitt as a model to show how some of his dance regalia is worn. He explained each piece and even let the kids feel his trailer made of otter fur.”
