WATER EMERGENCY UPDATE – AFTERNOON BRIEFING

SHARE NOW
Tonkawa reports their water system held nominal levels overnight and throughout this morning.
Water officials continue to monitor the system, and are seeing stable usage and demand levels. Even with this morning’s moderate usage, there has been no negative impact on our system’s ability to maintain water levels and pressure.
NORMAL WATER USE IS NOW PERMITTED
With these stable conditions, the community may return to normal water use. There are no restrictions in place at this time. However, as a precaution, we ask that you use the water responsibly and take into consideration the crisis we just went through. The City will continue monitoring levels while the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) remains active. If necessary, conservation orders may be issued, but for now, you may use your water as normal.
Additionally, City of Tonkawa Bulk Water Sales have been suspended until Monday, March 3, 2025 (at the earliest).
BOIL ORDER LIFTED – EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY
The water system samples tested negative for bacteria. As a result, the Boil Order has been officially lifted, and tap water is now safe for drinking, cooking, and all other uses.
ONGOING REPAIRS & REMAINING SERVICE DISRUPTIONS
+ While most of the system has been restored, some customers may still experience service disruptions due to:
+ Issues with their private water lines and service
+ Problems at the meter
Repairs are still being made to the city’s water system
Water crews are actively working to resolve these issues as quickly as possible. They are responding to multiple leaks throughout the city and making repairs efficiently.
