OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – The American Red Cross in central Oklahoma is deploying two emergency response vehicles and at least four volunteers to help with tornado recovery efforts in Arkansas.
Sixteen people died in Arkansas as a tornado carved an 80-mile path of destruction Sunday night. Another tornado in Quapaw, Okla., killed one person.
Ken Garcia is the spokesman for the Central and Western Region of the American Red Cross in Oklahoma. He says the vehicles will be used to provide meals to neighborhoods in Arkansas impacted by Sunday storms. The vehicles will also be used to provide items like cleaning supplies, tarps, rakes, gloves and masks.
Garcia says assistance has been requested in eastern Oklahoma.
