Actor Wes Studi making history on Sunday

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Cherokee actor Wes Studi is making history this Sunday as the first ever Native American Oscar recipient at the 11th annual Governors Awards.

The 71-year-old Tulsa, Oklahoma, native arrived in Los Angeles at an opportune time for Native American actors and almost immediately secured memorable roles in classics like “Dances With Wolves” and “The Last of the Mohicans,” in which he plays the memorable villain Magua.
