Wildcat Theatre Company to Perform “Eurydice”

The show is Eurydice by Sarah Ruhl.

Through special arrangement with Samuel French and Concord Theatricals Corporation.

It follows the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. Which is: Orpheus is a demi-god who composes and plays the sweetest, best music in the entire world. He and Eurydice (a human young woman) fall in love, but on their wedding night she dies and is taken to the Underworld. Orpheus, grieving without her vows to go to the Underworld and bring her back to the Living World. He composes a song that is so sweet, sad, and perfect that even the stones weep. Hades agrees to allow Orpheus back with him under one condition: that he not look at her until they both reach the Living World.  At the last minute, Orpheus looks back at her and she is taken forever back to the Underworld.

This version of the story explores the reasons WHY Orpheus looked back at her.

Emily Kleinman stars as Eurydice.

Addie Dye also stars as Orpheus.

Performances are on March 7th and 8th at 7:00 p.m. and on Sunday, March 9th at 2pm. In the Howell Auditorium and Ponca City High School. The performance is about and hour and a half long and there is no intermission.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for all students 17 and under.
